After the drama that was yesterday, we had a reasonably good day today.* It was kind of 'business mixed with leisure', because first on our list of 'must-sees' was to find a doctor to write a prescription so Mum could get new medication to replace what was in her suitcase that disappeared. We headed towards the train station, which happened to be the first stop for the hop-on-hop-off bus, which happened to pass fairly close to the address of a doctor recommended last night by the hotel staff. So we took the bus, saw the doctor, then headed towards the Santa Croche. This has a beautiful white/green/pink marble facade like the Duomo Santa Maria, but inside it was shrine after shrine erected for dead people, some of them even saying 'pray for me' - a bit too late for that, methinks. We both left it, thinking, if that's what people think Christianity is all about, then no wonder they don't want to have anything to do with it - even we don't want to have anything to do with what was on display there!
After that we found a pharmacy nearby and picked up the prescription. Then we got the bus again around the rest of the route, which included a stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo, which had a fantastic view over the city.
While we were having dinner we watched people parallel parking their cars in the street. In Florence, this isn't as trivial as it sounds.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, at 11:00 pm and really wanting to sleep, our room is being plagued by the bass from a nightclub down in the street below, which has been going on since about 5:30. We've decided to lump the 75 Euro cancellation fee (it's one night's rate) and move to another hotel with 'nice, quiet' reviews for tomorrow night. It's kind of spoilt Florence for us, but what can you do.
